"See You At The Pole" Draws Millions of Students

Yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of "See You At The Pole", a student-led, student-initiated movement of prayer.  We awoke very early at our home so that I could drive our kids to the 7:00am gathering at the flag pole in front of each of their schools.  "See You At The Pole" began in Texas in 1990.  This year's theme was "ENGAGE:  Go and Pray At Your School Flagpole . . . Pray for friends, family, school, community, country and the world".  The theme is based on 2 Kings 22 and the story of Josiah.  Josiah, the King of Israel, began one of the greatest revivals and awakenings of the Old Testament.  At age 16, he began to pursue God passionately and he encouraged everyone to recognize the power of prayer.  Our children estimated that there were 40 to 50 participating in the event at Andover Middle School and approximately the same number at Andover High School.  Around the world, it is estimated that nearly 3 million students participated in the event.
