The Wichita Areas Association of Realtors has released sales data for the first half of 2009. During the first six months of this year, residential sales have totaled 3,855 compared to 5,144 for the same period in 2008. This represents a 25% decline from 2008 to 2009, but also marks a substantial improvement in home sales activity during the last three months. Home sales in the first quarter of 2009 were down 31% when compared to the first quarter of 2008. The second quarter of 2009 is down only 20% when compared to 2008. Hopefully, we will see continued improvement during the balance of the year.
